Description:
The Prophet ﷺ said, "I have only been sent to perfect good character." Within the framework of Islam, the importance of manners (adab) and character (akhlaq) cannot be overemphasized. Manners and character are an integral part of the development of the ideal Islamic personality. The beauty of a community is manifested through the values and manners embodied in the interpersonal connections of its members.
al-Adab al-Mufrad compiled by Imam al-Bukhari - may Allah have mercy on him - is an anthology of 1329 ahadith that cover several aspects of good manners, ethics, and character. It is a beautiful work that provides a model for us to follow in nurturing and developing manners and character. During this intensive, we will explore selections from each chapter and study each topic with the intention of refining our manners and character. We will explore the importance of adab (manners and etiquette) within the Islamic tradition, and how it is integral to the overall practice of Islam. The intensive will provide a comprehensive understanding of the concept of adab and how it is an essential aspect of daily life.
