Course Description:

This course introduces students to the Fiqh of Marriage and Divorce with a focus on the Ḥanafī School of Thought, while touching upon the other Schools of Law. Students will learn and explore the issues related to marriage and divorce and their everyday application.

Students will gain a deeper and more nuanced understanding of issues related to the objectives of marriage, the proposal, mahr, marriage contract, marital rights and responsibilities, divorce, and its related issues. The focus of the class will be to contextualize the rulings found in classical works and make them practical for our current context. Students may take this class on-site, online, or on-demand.
