About

Before a student can really appreciate the concept of law, it is important for that student to have a foundation in its history.

Before a student can really appreciate the concept of law, it is important for that student to have a foundation in its history. That is the case for any legal system, and Islam is no exception. Thus this course focuses on one of the most important aspects for a student of law, which is to learn its history. In Part 2 of this course, we will look into various time periods, starting from the time of the Prophet Muhammad until about the 5th century after Hijrah, focusing on the aspects of the Prophet’s life in relation to law, looking into the role of the companions and their students, as well the concepts of schools of law and the different books that played a major role in the development of the legal system of Islam.
