Course description:

This course will introduce students to the primary subjects related to the study of hadith including preservation, compilation, classification and criticism.

Imam Nawawi (may Allah have mercy upon him) wrote, “The science of hadith is the most noble means of attaining nearness to the Lord of the Worlds.” Studying the Sciences of Hadith is essential for a proper understanding of the transmitted words, actions, approvals and characteristics of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). This course will introduce students to the primary subjects related to the study of hadith including preservation, compilation, classification and criticism. It will also introduce the six authentic books of hadith and their compilers to create a better understanding of this noble science.
