The Graduate Certificate in Islamic Thought and Scholarship at the Institute of Knowledge is a year-long, hybrid program (in-person in Diamond Bar, CA, and online via Zoom) launching Fall 2025. These courses will be taught exclusively by Dr. Omar Qureshi—a scholar with both traditional ijāzah-based training and a Ph.D.—the program blends classical Islamic scholarship with modern academic study.

Over nine months, students complete six advanced courses covering Qurʾānic studies, hadith sciences, Islamic law, theology, and Islam’s engagement with modernity. The curriculum explores both the historical development of the Islamic tradition and the frameworks used in contemporary research.

Two tracks are offered:

  • Certificate Track – graded work, projects, and feedback for formal recognition.
  • Audit Track – full access to lectures and discussions without assignments.

Classes meet twice a week per course, two courses per quarter, with recordings available. Instruction is in English; Arabic reading is recommended for Certificate students.

Graduates gain deep knowledge of Islamic disciplines, the ability to navigate both classical and modern scholarship, and tools to address contemporary issues—preparing them for leadership, education, or advanced study.
