Course Description:

This course is designed for intermediate Arabic students who have covered the basics of Arabic grammar and morphology and possess an intermediate level of reading comprehension. The course aims to help students deepen not only their knowledge of Arabic grammar and morphology but also their reading comprehension, Balāghah (Arabic Eloquence), and understanding of the Qurʾān.

Students will have the opportunity to prepare passages from the famous Ṣafwah al-Tafāsīr by al-Ṣābūnī (raḥimahu Allāh) by vowelizing and translating them beforehand. In class, they will read and translate these passages, receiving live feedback from the instructor. The instructor will correct errors, explain concepts from the Qurʾān and the tafsīr text itself, and provide necessary background and context.

ARB-202 is a year-long course and will require students to re-enroll every trimester. Students may take this class on-site, online, or on-demand.
